If you’re travelling by private cars between Hoi An and Hue, Hai Van Pass in either direction, don’t take the tunnel, take the Hai Van Pass. Twisty roads and sharp bends, but hardly any traffic. Which, in this neck of the woods, is almost unheard of! Given a bit of luck with the weather, the high point has great views down both sides of the mountain. There are also bunkers from the ‘American War’, peppered with bullet damage. This was a contested area at the time.Also Marble Mountain was amazing .
