My Lai massacre site tour, Located in the central Vietnamese district of Son My was a watershed in the history of modern American combat and a turning point in the public perception of the U.S.-Vietnam War. The My Lai Massacre took place on 16th March 1968. A total of 504 civilians were killed by the US GIs. Of these, 170 died in Son My where the Memorial is now housed. Go for it if you are truly interested in War History and would like to take a breath from the touristy Hoi An. Visiting My Lai is an opportunity for education and deep reflection.
At 8.00am, depart from hotel to Son My. On the way, we will have a quick stop in Dien Dan tower – the same kind of Cham Pa temple. Around 11.00am, we reach to My Lai Massacre Site and start the visit of My La monument. This historical site was built on the land where the American troops massacred the local people in the morning of March 16th, 1968. You witness evidences of the massacre such as photos, shirts, a pair of sandal of a killed child, all kinds of cups and plates, cookers…. All of them stir deep feelings in your heart.
